Cheers!!! Were Here!!!!!
Cheers!!!! We made it! Currently we have been up for almost 36 hours so bare with me if I don’t make sense! We got first class from San Francisco to New York as well as from New York to London so that was absolutely fabulous!!!! Upon arriving in London around 5:30am today (7/12) we hopped on the Heathrow Express and went in to the city and to our hotel. Thank goodness we were able to check in early and take a shower, there is just something about getting off an airplane that makes you feel like you haven’t showered in about a year!! We had our first fish and chips this morning at like 9:30am, we got to the restaurant and ordered and then looked around and were like “why is everyone eating breakfast” before we realized that it was only 9:30 in the morning but because we had breakfast at 5am it felt like lunchtime! We are already looking like the ridiculous Americans!!! As for sightseeing today we went to the tower of London. It is quite an amazing castle/tower/fortress type place. We learned a lot of history by doing the audio tour and frolicking around the tower grounds! They had a Henry VIII exhibit that was absolutely amazing!!! The tower grounds were quite large and there were so many different uses for the tower throughout the years! One of the weird things at the tower were the ravens that they keep there on the grounds. Those things are SOOOOO freaky looking. I never thought I would think a bird looks muscular but they are definitely the body builders of the bird family. They were so scary looking and unlike the US where they keep u super safe and away from unnecessary danger, this place just had a placard saying “watch out, Ravens might bite”! Oh great with my luck I was gonna get attacked by these crazy muscle birds, needless to say I left that area quickly avoiding any bird attacks! After the tower of London we saw the Tower Bridge which is a pretty amazing sight. Its really big and regal but its painted in parts a bright blue color and it reminded me of something fake like at Disneyland! We then decided we were going to walk along the water and make our way to some other sights. As we were aimlessly walking down the waterfront thinking of course we are going the right way, how can you get lost walking down a river bank, we realized we were going the total wrong direction of where we wanted to go. Of course we didn’t realize this until we were about 2 miles in with blisters on our feet and utter exhaustion throughout our bodies. After hopping on the bus to get us back in the right direction we made our way back towards our hotel and met up with moms friends Sheree and Shelly. Us four then went to Harrods. That place is freaking amazing!! I cannot even explain how large that place is and how many different things you can get there. I had to buy a “Harrods” bag which is my first and almost certainly not my last tourist souvenir!! After wandering around that department store on steroids we made our way over to Harvey Nichols. This place is another department store but it has a bar at the top. My mom had wanted us to go there to try this amazing strawberry beer she had last time. It was pretty amazing and tasted so delicious! It was one of those drinks that is very dangerous because it feels like your drinking juice and so you want to keep consuming and then next thing you know your hammered! We made it out of there still being able to walk and headed to dinner, definitely starting to crash from our lack of sleep. Delicious Thai dinner and then right back to the hotel and starting to feel like a grandma because its 9pm and I am ready to go to bed right now! Fabulous first day and cant wait to continue our adventures in London tomorrow!
