BATH AND STONEHENGE
What a jolly good day! WE SURVIVED THE FIRST DAY OF DRIVING!!! WAHOO!!! Mom did great! We were quite nervous at the beginning and it definitely took both of us paying attention to make it on the wrong side of the road. Trying to remember to stay on the left is the most difficult when turning right! We also went through about a millions roundabouts during our driving today and we are masters at it!! And the best part is that if we miss our “exit” off the roundabout we can drive around the circle again and catch it! We took the train today from London to Hemel Hempstead which is where we picked up our car. From there we drove to Windsor and saw Windsor castle. What a beautiful castle and quaint town surrounding it. We toured the castle and it is quite spectacular. I also got to take a picture with the armed guards like I wanted to!!! YAY!! After that we drove to Stonehenge. That is quite an odd place and is like a gosh darn wind tunnel. It is literally a huge field with these random stones in the middle of it. It is seriously so random. We had to see it of course and take a picture so we did that and totally ruined our hair while doing it!! Haha! After Stonehenge we made our way to Bath. This is where our driving got a bit crazy. It was the first bigger city we had driven in and it was a little scary. Mom got stressed and I all of a sudden was like a 5 year old child who couldn’t read a map or be any help at all when it came to directions! We ended up parking and finding an Inn to check in to and so that was good! Thank goodness the Roman Baths were open late because we didn’t make it over there until around 6:30. The Roman Baths are so amazing. It was so fascinating learning the history of the Baths and seeing how advanced they were so far back in the day. One of the rooms had these stones stacked up and an opening into another room where they used to have a fire which would heat up the stacked stones which heated the bath floors above. It was like radiant heating we have now wayyy back in the day! So cool to see. We had a delicious French dinner tonight and I finally had my Stella beer which I had been waiting to have! The weather was quite beautiful today for the most part, it rained for a bit while we were in the roman baths but that is it! Tommorow we are off to Cotswolds, Stratford upon Avon, and Warwick. Cant wait to see these quaint little towns!!! Hopefully the driving continues to go well! Cheers!
