"Reh Reh"

Wow what a jam packed day we had today. We made it to Bruges, Antwerp, and Ostend. We woke up in early in an attempt to get a jump start on the day and found it almost impossible to find “to go” coffee which to two severly caffeine addicted women is a VERY bad thing and Natalie was about to kill us because we were so crabby without our coffee. What the heck do no Europeans drink coffee and walk, we have places to go and people to see and don’t have time to just lollygag every time we want to have a coffee haha. We managed to get some vending machine coffee which was much more delicious then I expected so that was great. After the coffee fiasco we were on our way! We made it to Bruges which was actually only about an hour drive. When we got there it was absolutely pouring rain which was a bit of a bummer considering the girls were rutards and didn’t remember their umbrellas and none of our jackets were what you would consider “rain coats”. Needless to say we were getting freakin soacked trying to share one small umbrella. We made it to a little store and bought ginormous ponchos to wear around and let me say we were quite the sight prancing around the market square in our ponchos. We decided to get cappuccinos at a cafĂ© to get out of the rain because the vending machine coffee just wasn’t cutting it. We ended up taking some pretty pictures and going in to a beautiful cathedral. From there we went to Ostend which is a small seaside town west of Bruges. It was absolutely adorable and where we were walking along the boardwalk it had a bunch of fresh seafood huts selling delicious fish, shrimp, lobster, crab etc. We had fresh shrimp and some French fries and enjoyed the beautiful atmosphere of Ostend. At that point we needed to use the restroom, surprise surprise and yet again had to pay to use the toilet which I just find so absurd! .50 cents to pee, come on! Leaving Ostend Jenna decided to attempt her first driving experience in Europe and did a fabulous job. We headed to Ghent which was halfway back to Brussels. Jenna and I decided that we liked when Rue took us off track and on to side roads, however Nathalie decided she didn’t like when Rue did that without reason!! We saw some really pretty back roads when we got detoured! Ghent is a medieval canal city that turned out to be quite cute and quaint. We made it to the central markt and went to a really cute beer house called het waterhuis aan de bierkant right on the canal and enjoyed some locally brewed beer called Gandavum while enjoying the sun that finally decided to poke its head out and say hello. We also got some free wi fi and were able to connect with our people back home and say a little hello! Photo ops are of course necessary and we took some adorable pics on the canal, let me tell you there are a lot of framers in the pics that we took, what can I say we are three very photogenic ladies haha!! After leaving Ghent we decided to head back to Brussels and get some dinner, well that turned out to be an interesting feat. Although we have been staying there for the last 2 days and we have a gps clearly we all decided to be blonde bimbos including Rue (the GPS or Gippers as we also refer to her as) because we ended up lost within 10 min of our hotel for an hour! We all got so hungry and crabby that we ended up just parking and walking to a restaurant. It turned out to be a cute place we found and we enjoyed some good beer and some dinner while planning what we wanted to do the rest of the trip since we are kinda flying by the seat of our pants and didn’t have a hotel booked for the next night. We decided on the itinerary and went back to the hotel to look for hotels. We settled on staying Rotterdam and found a super cute hotel for a smokin’ deal!! Super tired from running around all day we decided to call it a night and got comfortable, however at that point Jenna and I got a second wind like children getting delirious (Moosh you know what im talking about you were the queen of this as a youngin’) and when Natalie asked us to turn the lights out so that she could go to sleep and we turned our little reading light on (since jenna and I cannot sleep without a nightlight) and realized it was the most perfect lighting for a shadow puppet show EVER! We ended up doing a great show for Natalie which we flip videoed and were laughing hysterically and then a hotel employee knocked on the door and scared the poop out of me mid puppet show because we were being too loud! This abruptly ended the Oscar worthy puppet show and we decided to hit the hay before Natalie round house kicked us to the head. Ok so for the memorable quotes of the day……Natalie getting stressed about some spastic driving conditions while trying to eat some trail mix and saying “Jenna I cant shift hold my nuts!” Jenna getting swiped by some ladies shopping bag that was wet and her freaking out stating “that is either anthrax or pee” Jenna having tripped on some cobblestones earlier in the day because of the rain stating in the evening that she “sprung her ankle” Natalie dealing with Rue being a pain in the butt while Jenna was driving and saying to me “give me some peanuts im a nervous eater!” Ou est-ce-que tu va pamplemouse?
