WAHOO my vacation has finally started!!! I flew out this morning at 6:20 out of Sacramento with 3 hours of sleep under my belt, and am now sitting in Chicago where I have a 6 hour layover. Luckily I decided to buy a day pass for the red carpet club lounge so I have a comfortable place to sit, snacks, drinks, and internet, what more could a girl ask for. It is pretty funny though because im sitting here with a bunch of middle aged business men in suits and I look real out of place being 25 year old female in my Juicy sweatsuit laughing out loud while talking on gchat and on my phone while they look miserable and uncomfortable making phone calls to work associates and bitching about their weeks. Good people watching I suppose, I tried to take a picture of all of these unhappy looking men around me but its hard to take a pic without looking like a total creeper! Thank god for technology is all I can say because I don’t think I would be able to make it through this layover with out it. I am currently talking on skype, facebook, gchat, text and placing some phone calls and emails all simultaneously, hey what can I say girls are good multi taskers. As I feverishly type on my phone and this computer I cant help but be SOOO anxious to get to my destination and start my wonderful trip!!!! I get in to Brussels at 9:30 tommorow morning and we are starting the sightseeing right away so im hoping to get some good sleep on my Chicago-Brussels flight, advil pm will be assisting me with that goal! Please keep your fingers crossed for me because whoever knows me well knows that if I don’t get sleep I am not a happy camper!! What does make me a happy camper though is that I got to wear sweats on this flight, its been sooo long since when I fly standby on moms airline I have to dress up since im “representing the airline”. However, I would wear dress clothes in a second if it meant I could go first class like I have with mom the last couple trips to Europe!!! Traveling coach just isn’t the same, what can I say mom has spoiled me! Its gonna be weird not traveling with mom this trip, she is my travel buddy and we always have so much fun together. Its like cutting the umbilical cord, my first trip to Europe without her! You will be missed mommy, and im sure the driving experiences wont be nearly as funny without you there and without hearing you say “Danielle am I gonna hit anything” and me responding “mommmm I can only see as much as you can see!” Love you mommy! Ok well im off to eat more snacks and maybe have a cocktail, maybe I will try chatting it up with a business man around me, anything to pass the time! Hopefully I will be able to post tomorrow when I get there! Tot Ziens! (my iphone translator is amazing, I will be speaking dutch in no time!)
